In accordance with the 2022 action plan of the Human capital working group of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings "Increasing ICT skills of staff in enterprises , organizations and taking measures in the field of digital literacy" an event was held on the topic of "Fifth generation computer technologies" organized by the Informatics department of the faculty of Mathematics of Sumgayit State University on October 12. Professors of the faculty and students participated in the event.

The dean of the faculty associate professor Khalida Hasanova spoke about the importance of the event. She said that information and communication technologies are one of the most important requirements of the era. Today, the services of new generation technologies are used in all fields. State structures, civil society institutions, economic and social fields, science and education, culture and other fields are under the influence of information and communication technologies. Nowadays, almost everyone is an internet user. The Internet provides easy access to information for everyone, and nowadays there is almost no information that is inaccessible. This is the reality of the new era.

The dean also noted that, as Azerbaijan achieved   its aims in the Second Karabakh war, it is also taking successful steps to the restoration of our territories freed from occupation. The concepts of "Smart City" and "Smart Village" implemented in those areas will spread widely throughout Azerbaijan in the near future. The entire economic sector and people"s activities will be built on the basis of smart technologies and will reach a higher level through artificial intelligence technologies. The main priorities of the economy of the country will be focused on the development of the non-oil sector, especially the ICT sector, along with traditional resources. The labor market will be enriched with smart professions in our country and will ultimately lead to the development of Azerbaijan.

At the event, the senior lecturer of the faculty Aygün Taghiyeva, delivered a report on "Basics of computer technology", talked about the history of the development of computing devices, gave detailed information about the adding machine, arithmetic meter, analytical machine, the first computer controlled by software, the first universal computer (ENIAC). She   noted that we all know that the 20th century was characterized by the rapid development of science and technology, new technologies, scientific and practical innovations entered history as the information age, the age of science. Currently, consistent and systematic measures are being implemented in all countries to transform economic potential into human capital. Sumgayit State University is constantly expanding its relations and achieving goals in this field. Holding and promoting today"s event is of great importance in this regard.

Associate professor of Informatics department Shahla Huseynzade gave a report on "Fifth generation computer technologies". She   said that V generation computers are the beginning of the use of Artificial Intelligence. The purpose of V generation computers is not only to have very high productivity and reliability, but also to meet qualitatively new functional requirements is to allow including working with words and knowledge bases, organizing artificial intelligence systems, providing communication with the user through speech and vision, and simplifying the process of creating the newest software tools. and so on.

In the end, the student of the faculty Vusala Musayeva gave a presentation related to "Artificial Intelligence".
