On October 20, a Republican scientific conference was held under the joint organization of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the topic "Actual problems of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Azerbaijan" at Sumgayit State University. 

Musa Guliyev- chairman of the Labor and social policy committee of the Milli Majlis, Tahir Rzayev- chairman of the Agrarian policy committee of the Milli Majlis, Vahid Novruzov-chairman of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the conference as well as well-known economists of many higher educational institutions of our republic.

First, rector professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them at the university. The rector gave detailed information about the activities and achievements of the higher educational institution which he leads, spoke about the attention and care shown by the President of the country to the development of science and education. He said that today, thanks to the attention and care of the head of the country, Sumgait State University has become a prestigious scientific and educational center of the country. Sumgayit State University, aiming to satisfy the need for qualified personnel for enterprises working with technology according to the requirements of modern world standards.The university has signed bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements with many prestigious universities of our republic and the world.

Later, the guests spoke about Sumgayit State University"s contributions to the development of our education. They said that the role of SSU in providing highly trained personnel to various enterprises operating in our country is great.

At the ongoing conference in the assembly hall, professor Ramazan Mammadov- vice-rector for Science and innovations greeted the guests and talked about the relevance of the topic. He noted that today our country is known in the world as an independent republic. As a result of the successful continuation of the socio-economic development strategy,which was laid by the national leader Heydar Aliyev, many successes, important results have been achieved in this field under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev since 2003.

The vice-rector also noted that the reintegration of liberated areas into the economy of Azerbaijan, providing employment to the population, creating production, service, trade, transport, logistics and other areas is one of the main issues.

The executive director of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, doctor of Economic sciences, professor Mushfig Atakishiyev made a speech that as a result of the implementation of the state program for the socio-economic development of the regions, the infrastructure of the economy was completely reconstructed and modernized.

The following persons made reports in the different topics: Musa Guliyev- chairman of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis "Prospects of Azerbaijan"s socio-economic development in the face of global challenges", Tahir Rzayev- chairman of the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis "The role of the agrarian sector in raising social-economic development to a new level in Azerbaijan", Vahid Novruzov - chairman of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan "Transparency factor of the economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan", Logman Abdullayev- head of the department of Finance and accounting of SSU, "The role of the guarantee mechanism in the development of credit relations in the Republic of Azerbaijan".

The speakers emphasized that successful socio-economic and political achievements, national and multicultural values ​​create confidence for Azerbaijan, which is the junction of East and West.These opportunities guarantee the strengthening of Azerbaijan"s economic sovereignty and its transformation into a powerful state based on modern living standards in the period up to 2030.

Galib Huseynov - head of the department of Business organization and management   gave information about the work of the conference. He said that 165 reports and theses from 33 science and higher education institutions of our republic were included in the Organizational committee of the conference. From them, 149 reports and theses were selected by the Program committee and checked by the anti-plagiarism program, and included in the agenda of the conference.

The scientific conference will continue its work in 4 sections for two days.
