On December 22, an event called "Let"s recognize our veterans" was held at the faculty of Chemistry and biology of Sumgayit State University.

First, the participants of the event visited the memorial monument of students-graduates who rose to the peak of martyrdom, created in the yard of the university, and laid flowers to  the monument. The dear memory of our martyrs who died for the freedom and territorial integrity of our homeland was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Associate professor Mahal Muradov- dean of the faculty of Chemistry and biology welcomed the veterans and participants and spoke about the historic Victory achieved by our Armed Forces in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of the president, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Docent Mahal Muradov spoke about the heroism of the sons of the country who wrote the glorious history, the bravery of our Armed Forces, the perseverance of our soldiers, and the struggle of our people, and emphasized that the  achieved successes were conditioned by the unity of the president and the people. He noted that the bravery of our soldiers and officers in the military operations for ensuring the territorial integrity of our country evokes an infinite sense of pride in each of us. He said that we are proud that there are students of Sumgayit State University among those young people. Speaking about the martyred graduates, the dean pointed out that they were patriotic and exemplary students. The dean stated  that the study and promotion of the history of the 44-day Patriotic war and the "Glorious victory" at the university is focused on and it is passed to immortalize their memory in the younger generation. Senior lecturer of the department of Civil defense, medical and physical training, veteran of the First Karabakh war, colonel-lieutenant Tapdig Hajiyev made a speech  that he felt happy that our patriotic young people were able to complete the unfinished work of the First Karabakh war. The  longing for land of thirty years ended in 44 days.

First-year students of the faculty, veterans of the Second Patriotic war, Ramil Maharramov, Husyu Sariyev, and graduate veteran Vusal Rzayev spoke about the glorious battle paths they took in the historical Victory March, shared their memories of their fellow soldiers who became martyrs for the territorial integrity of our lands, and speaking of their heroism, said that  they fulfilled their citizenship duties  for the Motherland . However, the support of the Azerbaijani people and the coming hundreds and thousands of young people to voluntary battles gave them extra strength.

Speaking about the activity "Let"s protect the ecology of our Shusha" head of the department of Ecology  associate professor Rahila Ahmadova noted that as a result of president Ilham Aliyev"s concern, important measures are  being done to solve environmental problems in our country. National programs for ecologically sustainable socio-economic development, restoration  of forests are successfully implemented. At present,  some work has been started in the direction of prevention of ecological disaster in our territories freed from occupation. Associate professor Rahila Ahmadova also pointed out that the Armenians along with looting our settlements, also caused serious damage to our nature. They cut down trees, destroyed forests, poisoned our rivers, and stole minerals. We have the task of restoring not only cities and villages, but also nature. Our cities will be rebuilt in Karabakh. This allows us to focus on environmental issues. In this direction, we must demonstrate our support for the protection of the environment and natural resources as national values for future generations.
