On December 23, under the organization of the faculty of Philology of Sumgayit State University  in the format of " One student"s presentation " in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, dated October 3, 2022 a presentation “Dili kesilmeyen milletin vucudu kesilmez” (As long as the language is alive, the nation is everlasting) was held on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the prominent publicist Omar Faig Nemanzadeh.

We should note that the presentation prepared by the 4th year student of the faculty of Philology Vafa Iskanderli was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of SSU.

The dean of the faculty, associate professor Sevinj Hamzayeva opened the event, greeted the participants, spoke about the importance of the presentation and said that a series of events in the format of "One student"s presentation" will continue.

The dean gave information about the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the celebration of the 150th anniversary of  Omar Faig Nemanzadeh and talked about the life and work of the thinker. From the first days of the 20th century, he was one of those who bravely fought for the national revival, freedom and happiness of the Azerbaijani people. O.F. Nemanzade, who has deep knowledge, scientific outlook, and wholesome character, had a warm heart beating for his country and people. He rendered important services in the formation and development of national journalism by co-founding the satirical magazine "Molla Nasreddin", which is famous throughout the Muslim East.

Not only in "Molla Nasreddin" magazine, but also in a number of newspapers and magazines published at that time: "Açıq soz", "Taraqqi", "Irshad", "Hayat", "Rancbar", "Adigun kolkhozchusu", "Communist". , "Golden flag", "Gardener" and others he demonstrated his creative mission with true patriotic responsibility and promoted the values of the Azerbaijani people in his creativity. The real reason why he was imprisoned and a victim of repression was that he was a bigot of language, education, new alphabet and Turkism.

Vafa Iskanderli - a 4th year student of the faculty of Philology  made a presentation about the history and culture of Akhiska Turks. She gave information about the history of Akhiska Turks exiled from their historical homeland to Central Asia and Kazakhstan in 1944 by the Soviet regime lived under a special commandant regime for 12 years, and tens of thousands of their compatriots died from the sufferings of exile, the history of migration to Azerbaijan starting from 1958, the geography of their settlement in our country, the socio-cultural aspects of their national existence. Then,she spoke about  the great representative of the national press of Azerbaijan, prominent publicist, well-known educator and public figure Omar Faig Nemanzadeh. She noted that Omar Faig Nemanzadeh was one of the main founders of the Molla Nasreddin literary school, one of the closest supporters  of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, and a thinker who made great contributions to the development of the national press and public opinion in Azerbaijan.

Vice-rector for Science and innovations professor Ramazan Mammadov, head of the department of literature of Azerbaijan and Foreign Countries, professor Avtandil Mammadov, professor Mukhtar Samadov - the department of Chemistry and its teaching methodology noted that the topic of the presentation was widely interpreted. Talking about Omar Faig Nemanzadeh"s activity as a devotee of language and press, they emphasized that the ideology of Azerbaijaniism is the main leitmotif of Omar Faig Nemanzadeh"s journalistic legacy, and  the importance of such educational events for representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, as well as young philologists, scientists and students.

Yusif Safarov -deputy chairman of the Public Union of Akhiska Turks living in Azerbaijan delivered the greetings of chairman of PUAT Khalid Khalilov to the participants and highly appreciated the presentation made by student Vafa Isganderli. Many intellectuals such as Omar Faig Nemanzadeh, Ahmad Bey Pepinov, Shafiqa Efendizadeh, Adil Efendiyev, Fuad Efendiyev, Movlud Bayragdarov, Muhammad Jalilov, Bekir Mamoyev  participated in the public life of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the event, a scene of Omar Faig Nemanzade"s meetings with Jalil Mammadguluzade and Ali Bey Huseynzade in "Sharqi-Rus" newspaper was shown with the participation of students.
