A MEETING WAS HELD WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE "ECONOMIC SUPPORT FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND EMPLOYMENT" PROJECT AT SSU
On December 28, a meeting was held at Sumgayit State University within the framework of the "Gender Based Violence" component of the "Economic Support to Entrepreneurship and Employment" project, funded by USAID, implemented by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the United Nations Development Program.
At the meeting, the vice-rector for Social issues and public relations of the university, associate professor Elmar Khalilov spoke about the importance and role of the project, stated that women always have their own special place in our society and in state administration, and recently the participation of women in different bodies, the appointment of women to departments, enterprises and organizations is one of them. He pointed out that there is more evidence in this direction, as in all fields in our country, consistent and purposeful work is being done in the fight against women"s violence.
The head of Sumgayit Women Resource Center Gunel Alakbarova made a speech and informed about the purpose of the project, she noted that it is appropriate to support and strengthen the mechanisms within the community to eliminate cases of domestic violence on the basis of gender, and to expand the economic powers of women. talked about things.
Irada Huseynova- senior lecturer of the department of Pedagogy and psychology of Sumgayit State University, psychologist of Sumgayit Women"s Resource Center spoke about the importance of strengthening awareness-raising activities on the subject.
At the meeting, a video about the fight against women"s violence was shown, and the questions of the participants were answered.
At the end, certificates and gifts were presented to the students actively participated in the "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" campaign held between November 25 and December 10, 2022.
We should note that "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" is an international campaign held annually between November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and December 10 (International Human Rights Day).
