On February 27, a knowledge competition among students dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held in the Scientific library of Sumgayit State University under the organization of the faculty of History and geography.

At the event, the dean of the faculty of History and geography professor Adil Bakhshaliyev spoke about the great leader Heydar Aliyev's incomparable services to the people and the state of Azerbaijan. He said that National Leader Heydar Aliyev's services are so great that his dear memory is remembered every day and all the time. The main purpose of the knowledge competition is to study the life and activities of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev to preserve the legacy of the Great Leader and promote it among the young generation, and at the same time, to increase the interest of the them in science and educational competitions.

Farida Jabrayilova- deputy dean of the History and geography faculty, Elmin Novruzlu - head of SYO and Khatira Aliyeva - an employee of the scientific library spoke and noted that the development and achievements of Azerbaijan are connected with the honorable name and great activity of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. During his leadership of Azerbaijan, our republic went through a development path equal to centuries. Azerbaijan - the masterpiece of a national leader is strengthening and developing day by day based on his ideas, improving its place and role in the system of international relations, in short, being recognized as the shining star of the South Caucasus, demonstrating the existence of the Azerbaijani model of development to the world. These successes which are valued as the celebration of Heydar Aliyev's policy are confirmed by the greatness of love and respect for the great personality. The celebration of the Great Leader's 100th anniversary in a high mood also stems from this love and respect.

Then the competition of intellectual knowledge was started. Fatima Alimardanli - a student of group 852 a the first place, Orkhan Baloğlanli, a student of group 853, the second place and Nariman Sadraddinli - a student of group 851 won the third place in the competition. At the end, the winners were awarded, the certificates were presented to each member of the teams for their participation.

We should note that the competition was held in 3 rounds. In each round, 12 questions were asked which reflecting the life and activities of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, the process of state building and reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of the Great Leader.
