On April 3, a subject Olympiad on the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was organized by the faculty of Chemistry and biology of Sumgayit State University.

At the opening of the olympiad, the dean of the faculty, associate professor Mahal Muradov spoke about the importance and purpose of the Olympiad.He said that about the exceptional services of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of our people, in the history of the statehood, the world-famous political figure became a living legend during his lifetime. The dean said that Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was selected from world leaders with his knowledge, determination, strong will and leadership skills, and  told about the Great Leader the valuable opinions of the world"s well-known politicians.

Docent Mahal Muradov noted that the education of the young generation on the basis of modern requirements, raising the knowledge and intellectual level of young people, and their development as perfect specialists and dignified citizens in the future were always on the minds of our Great Leader. He said in his meeting with the students sent to study outside of Azerbaijan, "You are in the last decades of this century and you will work at the beginning of the next century. Tomorrow will give you new, high demands. If a specialist is a truly creative personality, he should not just keep up with the time, but always be a little ahead of it. This means that it is necessary to constantly learn, therefore the foundation of knowledge, skills, and habits must be strong" it is in harmony with the requirements of the current era and modern approaches. Talking about the advantages of the subject of Chemistry and biology, the dean noted that holding such scientific Olympiads will help students in their development as a specialist.

At the end of his speech, the docent wished success to the work of the Olympiad.

Then the competition  started. The Olympiad was held in two stages.

According to the points collected by the decision of the commission in the conditions of intense competition, 352nd group student Fatima Sadikhova from Chemistry received 100 points, 351st group student Ilaha Mirzaagayeva 60 points, 323b group student Afsana Asgarova 58 points, 348th group student Ulkar Gambarzade from Biology subject scored 56 points, Laman Huseynova, a student of the 345th group scored 50 points and Turkan Zulfugar, a student of the 353rd group  42 points.

At the end, the winners were awarded diplomas and medals.
