AN EVENT RELATED TO THE GENOCIDE OF AZERBAIJANIS WAS HELD IN SUMGAIT CITY SECONDARY SCHOOL ORGANIZED BY SSU
On the initiative of the department of History and its teaching methodology of the faculty of History and geography of Sumgait State University, a commemorative event dedicated to March 31-Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held in secondary school number 17 named after Zulfi Hajiyev of Sumgayit city.
The event, attended by historians of the department, the school"s teacher-student team, as well as students of the university who had a pedagogical experience at that school. The event began with a minute"s silence in memory of the people who died for the sake of our Motherland.
The director of the school Rena Rufullayeva greeted the participants of the event in her introductory speech and said that a group of historians of the SSU will make a presentation on the genocide of Azerbaijanis, as well as the aggressive policy of Armenians against Azerbaijan.
Later, the head of the department of History and its teaching methodology of the faculty of History and geography doc. Sona Maharramova stated that the Armenians have unfounded claims against Azerbaijani lands, unprecedented crimes against Azerbaijanis, atrocities, mass massacres, murders, robberies, looting, genocide, ethnic cleansing.
The speech of the teacher of that department Shahla Ahmadova based on historical documents about the atrocities committed against the Azerbaijani population in 1918 by the armed Armenian regular units with the political, material and moral support of the Bolsheviks, was also received with interest by the participants.
IV year students of the faculty Aisha Amrahova, Mrs. Miraliyeva, Matanat Malikrzayeva spoke about the scale of atrocities committed by Dashnak-Bolshevik armed groups in Shamakhi, Guba, Karabakh and other regions of our country, as well as the materials collected by the Extraordinary Investigation Commission created by the government of the Republic.
The senior lecturer of the department Nofal Abdullayev spoke about the historical and political significance of the Decree "On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis" signed by the National Leader president Heydar Aliyev on March 26, 1998.
At the end of the event, which continued with Ahmed Javad"s poem "Susmaram" recited by the third-year student of the faculty of History and geography, Aliyar Rafiyev. The director of the school Rena Rufullayeva expressed her gratitude to the management of the university for the high-level organization of the event, personally to the rector professor Elkhan Huseynov as well as to the scientists in history and university students.
