On May 25, Sumgayit  State University held an online international scientific conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev on the topic "Interstate economic relations: modern challenges and perspectives".

Members of Parliament at the conference: academician Ziyad Samadzade, chairman of the Union of Economists of Azerbaijan, associate professor Vugar Bayramov, chairman of the Board of the Center for Social Development, Tural Ganjaliyev, chairman of the Board of the Public Union "Azerbaijani Community of the Nagorno-Karabakh Region of the Republic of Azerbaijan", including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Macedonia and others economists from the leading universities of the countries also participated.

Vice -rector for Science and innovations of SSU professor Ramazan Mammadov opened the conference and greeted the guests and expressed his pleasure to see them and conveyed the greetings of the rector professor Elkhan Huseynov. He said that a series of events were held at Sumgayit State University within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" and emphasized  today"s conference organized by the faculty of Economics and Management was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The  vice-rector spoke about the invaluable services rendered by the outstanding statesman for the welfare of our country. He stated that currently the development path of Azerbaijan started from the 70s of the last century, when Heydar Aliyev held leading positions both in Azerbaijan and in the USSR. Today, Azerbaijan is an independent state that is rapidly integrating into the international world, has ensured dynamic economic development and reliable political stability. Our tricolor flag flies proudly in our liberated lands, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur have become a large-scale construction site, and the life has begun to revive in these lands with the implementation of the "Great Return" program. This makes great contribution to the development of our economy.

Professor Ramazan Mammadov spoke  about the importance of the conference, emphasized that the materials of the conference included 140 reports and theses from the universities of Russia, Turkey, Macedonia, etc. and 31 science and higher education institutions of our republic, 130 reports and theses  from them were selected by the Program Committee and  were checked with the anti-plagiarism program and accepted into the agenda of the conference. I hope that the research of the speakers and other conference participants will make a practical contribution to the development of interstate economic relations in the context of modern challenges with their scientific results and practical proposals.

Chairman of the Union of Azerbaijan Economists, academician, member of the Milli Majlis Ziyad Samadzade made a wide report on "The multifaceted activity of Heydar Aliyev in the expansion of interstate economic relations during the years of independence". He said that one of the main conditions for the development of Azerbaijan as an independent state and improving of the welfare of the population is the economic potential of the republic. After returning to power, the Great Leader paid special attention to the formation and development of Azerbaijaniism. Among the large-scale projects implemented under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, the oil export agreement signed in 1994 called "Contract of the Century". This project has gone down in history as one of the main services rendered by the National Leader to the rise of the economic power of Azerbaijan and the prosperous life of the people. The economic policy strategy, which was founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, is being successfully implemented today by the head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

These participants made a speech: members of the Milli Majlis Vugar Bayramov "The importance of economic projects defined by Heydar Aliyev and serving the national interest", Tural Ganjaliyev "The strategic role of the revival of Karabakh in the development of the region", head of the department of Economic policy of Atatürk University Prof. Dr. Kerem Karabulut "Strategic aspects of Turkish-Azerbaijani cooperation in economic development in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur", professor of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, doctor of economic sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Financial Economy" Vasiliy Bespyatikh" Heydar Aliyev is an outstanding strategist of modern interstate economic relations", Saadat Humbataliyeva associate professor of the department of Economics of Sumgayit State University "Heydar Aliyev and foreign economic relations of Azerbaijan". They noted that interstate economic relations were not only about obtaining the necessary income, but also determine strategic partners in foreign policy, science, culture and other fields. They emphasized that the issues which discussed at the international conference, integration into the European Union, expansion of investment projects, the development of science-intensive industries and high technologies would stimulate economic growth and formation of the knowledge economy.

Associate professor Galib Huseynov, head of the department of Business organization and management, informed about the further work of the conference. He said that the scientific conference would continue its work in 4 sections for two days.
