On June 25, the Vlll Student Scientific Conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, started its work at Sumgayit State University.

First, the dear memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was commemorated with a minute's silence.

Prof. Ramazan Mammadov, vice-rector on Science and innovation of the university, opened the conference with an opening speech, greeted the participants, spoke about the comprehensive development of the higher education institution and the activities of SSS. He said that scientific research has an important role in the country's economy today. Wide  opportunities have been created to increase students' interest in science, achieve success in the field of science, and engage in scientific activities at Sumgait State University. Appreciating the activity of the SSS, the vice-rector particularly noted that as a result of this, the success of our students in various events inside and outside the university is increasing day by day, and emphasized that the members of the Student Scientific Society actively participate in prestigious national and international conferences and achieve successful results.

As a result of the successful implementation of the state youth policy established by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the vice-rector drew attention to the fact that dynamic, patriotic youth have grown in our independent country and wide opportunities have been created for the development of young people. Also, professor Ramazan Mammadov emphasized that the Student Scientific Society successfully fulfills the tasks of organization and coordination of scientific-research works in our university. The Student Scientific Society is a real school of research and creativity of young researchers of tomorrow. At the same time, this society plays an important role in identifying talented and capable students. The vice-rector also noted that as a result of the efforts of the Student Scientific Society, healthy competition was ensured among students in the field of science, taking into account their certain wishes and dreams. It is a very gratifying fact that our students actively participate in scientific conferences, seminars, subject olympiads and competitions organized at the university, national and international level with their scientific research and creative work and they are awarded certificates. At the end of his speech, the vice-rector wished success to the work of the conference.

The scientific head of SSS, associate professor Lala Bunyatova, spoke and said that the conference played a big role in revealing the scientific potential of young scientists in this field. She also noted that the rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov paid special attetion to the involvement and encouragement of the Student Scientific Society in scientific work. The rector constantly controls and rewards distinguished students.

Then Solmaz Bahramzadeh, the chairman of the SSS for the university, gave a report on the main activities of the SSS and the work done in these directions. She spoke about the work done by the Student Scientific Society in the faculties, the achievements.

At the conference, extensive discussions were held around the reports, which were received with interest by members of the teaching staff.

Then the awarding ceremony of the students was held.

The students who participated in the 8th Student Scientific Conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, were awarded with diplomas.
