BRITISH COUNCIL'S DELEGATION TO AZERBAIJAN VISITED AT SUMGAYIT STATE UNIVERSITY
On September 29, Nargiz Hajiyeva, the country director of the British Council"s representative office in Azerbaijan, Sevinj Agazadeh, the coordinator of corporate projects, and Nargiz Akbarova, the head of examinations of the South Caucasus region, visited Sumgayit State University.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the possibilities of the British Council and possible perspectives of the university in the direction of developing the professional skills of the academic staff of SSU.
Rector of SSU Rufat Azizov welcomed the guests and expressed his satisfaction to see them at the university. The relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain and the United Kingdom of Northern Ireland are developing day by day, the rector expressed hope that these relations will be successfully developed in the future. He noted that for many years, high-level political dialogue, respect for mutual interests and cooperation in the field of education between Azerbaijan and Great Britain have had high results. Quite a few Azerbaijani have studied in Great Britain.
The rector noted that the British Embassy prioritizes education in Azerbaijan, cooperation with higher education institutions and has signed many innovative projects in this field.
Generally, internationalization is one of the strategic goals and a priority direction of the university, the rector gave information about the activities of the higher education institution he leads, its current status and international relations, the projects implemented in the field of education in our country, strategic directions of higher education, and state programs.
Nargiz Hajiyeva, director of the representative office, who got acquainted with the university"s educational opportunities, gave detailed information about the APTIS program for teachers, international language certificate exams for teachers and students, which can be implemented at SSU.
Sumgayit State University vice-rector on Teaching organization and training technologies Natig Talibov, director of the Language and Translation Center Zhala Mammadova and head of the department of International cooperation and foreign students Sadagat Fatullayeva attended in the meeting.
