On November 25, with the support of the Student Trade Union Committee, a group of teachers and students of the Faculty of Physics and Electric Power went on an excursion to the Mingachevir Hydroelectric Power Station.

Teachers and students were given extensive information during the excursion, which was held in order to get to know the station equipment and the processes taking place there.

Elshan Asadov, the leading engineer of the technical safety and labor protection department, Asif Namazov, the deputy head of the electrical plant, and Parvin Valiyev, the leading engineer of the SPP employees, talked about the stations, the reconstruction works were started here with the initiative and direct leadership of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, as a continuation of the process in 2010-2017. It was reported that the control center located on the lower level of the engine room at the station, which does not meet the standards for the safety of the staff, has been replaced with a new control center that fully meets modern requirements. It was recalled that on February 27, 2018, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the commissioning ceremony of the Mingachevir HPP after major reconstruction.

Emphasizing the special place and weight of the HPS in Azerbaijan"s energy supply, it was stated that the construction started in 1941, postponed with the start of the Second World War, resumed in 1945, completed in 1955, and started with a full capacity of 360 megawatts.

It was brought to the attention of the tourists that the reservoir of the Station, which includes the earthen dam created by washing the water junction, the water intake, sub-waters of the HPP, the main building, electrotechnical devices, the water intakes of the Upper Karabakh and Upper Shirvan irrigation canals, has sufficient water reserves for long-term use due to its capacity. The  power of the station was increased from 284 megawatts to 424 megawatts, 6 sets of working shields, 4 sets of repair shields and 3 special lifting cranes were overhauled at the station, and 4 disk connectors with a diameter of 5300 millimeters were replaced with new ones.
