Azerbaijan belongs to  the oldest sporting traditions. During this period different types of sports have developed in Azerbaijan. The President of Azerbaijan, the President of  National Olympic Committee - Ilham Aliyev pays great attention to the sport in the country, in strengthening the base of the new complexes and gyms, also various events are organized. As a result, our athletes gained medals and victories in recent years.  Young athlets’ victories encourage other young sportsmen for new successes.  On December 6th dedicated in honor of Tofig Garayev,  International Athletics tournament was held. In this tournament,  first year student of Chemical and Biological faculty of SSU- Ilham Iksanov was awarded with the first place. It must be noted that,  4 countries-Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan athletes took part in this race. Our student’s achievement  had become a source of pride not only for our  university, but also whole of the  development of sport in Azerbaijan policy. We hope that with the help of this policy and victories, new medals and victories will wait for us in our future life.
