On February 13, the ‘Science and Engineering’ camp was opened for the first time during the activity of the higher education institution under the organization of the Career and Alumni Center of Sumgait State University.

It should be noted that the main goal of the camp is to create a connection between students and specialists working in different companies, to acquire practical knowledge, and to study the demand for engineering skills in the real labor market.

On the first day of the camp, Rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov welcomed the participants and informed about the purpose of the engineering-oriented camp. Later, the rector made a presentation on ‘Persistence strategy’. He spoke about the importance of such camps in strengthening university-industry relations, personnel training in accordance with the requirements of the industry, and in the implementation of scientific-research activities. He emphasized that students will get acquainted with industrial processes, as well as the work experience of specialists.

Ahad Shafiyev, production manager of ‘Azertechnoline’ LLC steel pipe plant, marketing department specialist Zaur Omarov, human resources specialist Nurana Salimzade made a presentation and gave detailed information about the activity of the company they represent and the purpose, perspectives and personal experiences of the camp. Ahad Shafiyev noted that during the tour, professional engineers working in the company will share their experience with students and they will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the processes in the industry.

Turgay Mazman, Director of Operations for Manufacturing Factories of ‘GILTEX’ LLC, Omer Karatash, Director of Quality Control, and Allahverdi Bagirov, Head of Human Resources Department, spoke and informed the participants about the path taken by the textile company. Turgay Mazman spoke about the company"s activities and discussed the production process in detail. Omer Karatash spoke about the quality criteria of the company. Later, Allahverdi Bagirov explained the essence of SDU-GILTEX LLC cooperation and offered to organize periodic excursions to the production areas to the participants. It was emphasized that the intellectual environment created in the speeches will create a foundation for our youth to achieve high achievements in the field of science and education and make worthy contributions to the development of society.

After the presentations, an excursion to the production areas of ‘Azertechnoline’ LLC was organized. Students were informed in detail about the activities of 3 factories. At the end of the camp, the participants listened to the musical performances of talented students in the ‘Student House’ of SSU, played various intellectual and entertaining games.

It should be noted that the ‘Science and Engineering’ camp will last for three days.
