On March 14, an event called ‘Eco talk’ was held in English at Sumgait State University, organized by the Student Scientific Society.
Rector of the university, associate professor Rufat Azizov, opened the event and spoke about the relevance of the theme of the event. He reminded that 2024 has been declared the ‘Year of Solidarity for the Green World’ in our country, and talked about the environmental problems that concern the world and our republic, their causes and ways to solve them. He said that one of the biggest problems of the 21st century is the problems caused by man-made development reaching a larger scale and as a result of this, the pressure on nature is increasing at a high rate. In other words, the role of anthropogenic influences in experiencing the ecological crisis has reached its highest level, which manifests itself in abnormal climate conditions, the increase of natural disasters and the decrease of food production. Most states are now forced to spend a lot of effort to eliminate these consequences. The government of Azerbaijan also implements various measures to solve environmental problems. In this direction, Azerbaijan's hosting of COP 29 in 2024 will contribute to the process of combating climate change at the global level and the green transition process with its successful steps at the national level.
