A SEMINAR DEDICATED TO PRESERVING THE PURITY OF THE AZERBAIJANI LANGUAGE, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS WAS HELD AT SSU
On April 5, at Sumgait State University, within the framework of the ‘Our mother tongue and education’ project of the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the seminar ‘Protection of the purity of the Azerbaijani language: problems and solutions’ organized by the department of the Azerbaijani language and its teaching methodology of the Faculty of Philology of SSU was held.
The management team of the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission, teachers and students of the Faculty of Philology took part in the seminar.
The dean of the Faculty of Philology, Associate Professor Gunel Pashayeva, who gave an introductory speech, greeted the guests and participants, spoke about the development path and richness of our mother tongue, touching on the relevance of the topic.She wished such meetings to be continued in order to further develop cooperation relations with the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission.
In the seminar moderated by Associate Professor Buyukkhanim Eminli, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and its Teaching Methodology of SSU, a conversation was opened about preserving the purity of the Azerbaijani language, ensuring the use of the state language, developing linguistics and the important measures implemented in this aspect.
Professor Sevinj Aliyeva, director of the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a speech and spoke in detail about the history of the establishment and directions of activities of the institution she leads, and talked about the work carried out by the center in recent times. She gave information about the important factors in protecting the mother tongue, the process of language enrichment, violation of norms of literary language in mass media and other issues.
Deputy Director of the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor Gulara Amirova spoke about the current state of the Azerbaijani language and the struggle for the protection of literary language norms. She said that in our country, important works and researches are being carried out in connection with the Azerbaijani language.
Other speakers also spoke about the purity of the Azerbaijani language and its protection, and stated that there is a great need for the unity of school, family and society in order to eliminate the defects that harm the delicacy of our language.
At the seminar, a wide range of ideas were exchanged about the value given to the mother tongue, the protection of the richness and purity of our language, the correct use of the literary language, the promotion of language and speech culture, language expression styles, observance of language norms, as well as the use of international terms. During the discussions, mistakes made in internet resources, as well as interesting nuances that could serve the protection and development of our language were touched upon, and various suggestions were made in order to solve the problems.
At the end of the seminar, the questions of the participants were answered.
