Our students went on an excursion to the Main Terrestrial Satellite Control Center of ‘Azercosmos’

On April 9, a group of students of the ‘History and Geography’ faculty went on an excursion to the Main Earth Satellite Management Center of ‘Azercosmos’ (MESMC) under the leadership of deputy dean Osman Hajiyev, organized by the ‘Career and Alumni Center’ of Sumgait State University and with the support of the Student Union Committee.

The purpose of the excursion is to familiarize students interested in science, technology and space with the activities of MTSC.

Osman Hajiyev informed the students about the ‘World Space Week’ held 2 years ago and talked about the work done in the space field and the successes achieved. In recent years, he emphasized the importance of such meetings in this field.

Nigar Kazimova, the chief specialist of the public relations, communication and media department of the ‘Azercosmos’ Space Agency, gave detailed information about the development path of Azerbaijan"s modern space industry, the directions of the Space Agency"s activities and future plans, the country"s satellite

projects, projects implemented through telecommunications and remote Earth observation satellites.

Then the students walked in the territory of MTSC. They closely followed the possibilities of transferring their information through highly reliable satellite-based TV and radio broadcasting, DTH (Direct-to-Home), voice, video, etc.

At the meeting, space-related information and the jobs that students in this field can do after graduation were discussed.

In the end, the students" questions were answered.
