On June 14, an event was held at Sumgait State University on the theme "National Liberation Day: a glorious page in the history of Azerbaijan"s statehood". Opening the event with an opening speech, SSU Vice-Rector for Social affairs and public relations associate professor Elmar Khalilov welcomed the participants, congratulated the university staff, students and undergraduates on the occasion of the significant historical day and spoke about the importance of celebrating this day. Stating that this date, which is considered a turning point in the destiny of the Azerbaijani people, is of great social, political and historical importance for our country, docent Elmar Khalilov talked about the rescue mission carried out by National Leader Heydar Aliyev after his return to political power for the second time. He said that historical days, socio-political processes that create new realities and promote development are very important in the fate of nations and states. The vice-rector noted that the only leader who saved Azerbaijan from a difficult and unbearable situation in the 90s could have been the great leader Heydar Aliyev. The National Leader, who returned to power at the insistence of the people, protected the independence of Azerbaijan and ensured the dynamic development of all areas in our country. Heydar Aliyev"s ideas live today. President Ilham Aliyev continues his policy resolutely and successfully in all areas. The historical victory in Karabakh over the occupying Armenian army in 2020 under the leadership of the President and the Supreme Commander is a shining example of this policy. After the introductory speech, Amirkhan Isayev, associate professor of the department of history of Azerbaijan and Eastern European peoples, gave a report on "National Liberation Day: a glorious page in the history of Azerbaijan"s statehood". Elshad Aliyev, teacher of the department of Azerbaijani language and its teaching methodology, "Services of Heydar Aliyev in building a legal democratic state - civil society in Azerbaijan", Lyudmila Ismayilova, head teacher of the department of finance and accounting, "From liberation to development: successful results of Heydar Aliyev"s socio-economic policy", associate professor of Philosophy,sociology and political science department Konul Madatzade made a speech "Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan"s foreign policy course based on national interests". Speakers talked about the glorious path that started from the National Liberation Day and brought historical success and glorious victory to Azerbaijan, and talked about the greatness of the personality of the National Leader and the reforms carried out in the direction of democratic and legal state building in our country. They noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, our country will conquer higher heights.
