THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF PROMINENT SCIENTIST RAMAZAN MAMMADOV WAS CELEBRATED AT SSU

 On July 1, the 80th anniversary of the prominent scientist, pedagogue, professor Ramazan Mammadov of Sumgayit State University was celebrated.
Rector of SSU Associate Professor Rufat Azizov received Professor Ramazan Mammadov and congratulated him on his jubilee, talked about the life path of the jubilee, his services in the field of pedagogy and linguistics at the university, and awarded the jubilee with an Honorary Decree.
In his speech, the rector said that Ramazan Mammadov devoted most of his life to the teaching of the Russian language at Sumgait State University and the training of highly qualified linguists, made great contributions to the development of the linguistic science of our country, and won the respect and admiration of the collective with his productive activity, creativity, wisdom and simplicity.
The colleagues also spoke about the scientific activity of Ramazan Mammadov, who has a broad outlook and deep knowledge, and shared their memories about him.
Professor Ramazan Mammadov expressed his gratitude to the university administration and staff for the congratulations.
It should be noted that professor Ramazan Mammadov was born on July 1, 1944 in Gum village of Gakh district. In 1968-1973, he studied Russian language and literature at the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute of Russian Language and Literature named after Mirza Fatali Akhundov in high school, became a teacher, a Lenin scholar, and graduated from the institute with honors. By decision of the Scientific Council, he was retained at the institute to work in the department of Phonetics of the Russian language. Until 1991, he worked in the positions of chief laboratory assistant, teacher, senior lecturer, associate professor, and deputy dean. In 1974-1977, he studied at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. In 1980-1984, he was on a scientific-pedagogical mission to the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan at the request of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the USSR. At the same time, he worked as an associate professor, head of the department, secretary of the university party organization, and vice-chairman of the Methodological Union for teaching the Russian language in Afghanistan at
Kabul University. From 1991 to 2014, he held the positions of associate professor, professor, head of department at Sumgait State University, and from 2014 to 2023, he led the position of vice-rector for Science and Innovations at SSU. Currently, he is a professor of the department of Foreign languages.
In 1978, he defended his candidacy and doctoral theses in 2009. More than 150 scientific, scientific-methodical and journalistic works, including 8 monographs and textbooks, have been published in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English languages.
Professor Ramazan Mammadov's scientific interests are not limited to linguistics. In the scientific-sociological study of the mass riots committed by Armenian and pro-Armenian nationalist-separatist forces in February 1988, he investigated the problem of connection between these tragic events and the Azerbaijan-Armenia-Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He is the author of a series of articles, conference materials and 7 monographs devoted to the problem and published in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English languages. In 1965 with the Jubilee medal "XX let Pobedy v Velikoy Otechestvennoy voyne", in 1984 with the "Eftekhor" order of the Republic of Afghanistan, in 2012 with the "Republic of Azerbaijan" "Advanced Education Worker" badge was awarded.
Ramazan Mammadov was awarded the diploma of the "Scientific-Intelligence Center of the Academy of Natural Sciences of the Moscow International Education Hall"
