On November 6, Sumgayit State University (SSU) held the training organized by the Teaching Methodological Center of the university (TMC). The director of TMC, associate professor Osman Hajiyev, opened the training, informed about the preliminary results of reforms aimed at optimizing teaching in the current academic year. The successes achieved in this direction were mentioned, in addition to the opening of new majors, the existence of SABAH groups for bachelor and master levels. It was emphasized that the minimum goal is to increase English-language teaching to 30 percent in the higher education institution in the near future. The director of the center noted that the initial reforms are a priority direction for the academic staff, and the updating of the teaching content is the result of the strict requirements of the business world. With the participation of university teachers, the session on the topic "Teacher"s ROLE-MODEL: The influence of a personal example" began under the guidance of Aynura Baghirova, senior lecturer of the Language and literature department of the faculty of Philology. In the training process, the creation of an effective learning environment, the integration of social-emotional learning into the training process, the mechanisms and strategies of effective audience management, and the use of technical tools were used to establish effective communication with students. The trainer noted that the topic is not to exaggerate the fulfillment of the tasks before the teacher, but to remind him of his potential. The next trainer, Aytekin Mammadova, associate professor of the department of Pedagogy and psychology, called her training on "Effective organization of the teaching process by the teacher" simply sharing ideas with colleagues. Reminding that the subject is the requirements for modern teaching, the head of the department stated that this is the result of the demands of the time and the minimal requirements set by the university management for the academic staff. Emphasizing the importance of teachers" use of active learning resources, as well as the importance of providing less-used but effective resources, for example, interactivity in teaching, she recalled: "Our students" approaches to teaching change over time, and this is one of the factors that make renewal inevitable in our work." In the end, vice-rector for Science and innovations, associate professor Elshad Abdullayev thanked the trainers and participants, and stated that the trainings will continue on this topic, the academic staff will participate in the trainings on a voluntary basis.
