On November 4, the History and Geography department of Sumgayit State University (SSU) organized an excursion dedicated to the National Flag Day of November 9. This excursion took place in the Flag Museum located in Sumgayit and aimed to instill patriotic values among students. Head of the department professor Shirkhan Salimov, senior lecturer Parviz Jafarov and students of the faculty's group No. 855 took part in the excursion. The excursion was organized in accordance with the Annual Action Plan of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and Eastern European peoples. The aim was to increase the attachment of the young generation to national values. During the excursion to the Flag Museum, the students and teaching staff of SSU were welcomed by the museum's professional guides. The museum guides gave detailed information to the guests about the history, symbolic meaning of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the importance of the flag as a national symbol for our people. During the excursion, the historical exhibits displayed in the exhibition halls of the museum attracted attention. Ancient flags, battle flags and other national symbols reflecting the past of the Azerbaijani people were displayed among these exhibits. Students and teachers watched the exhibits displayed in the museum with great interest, got acquainted with historical events and stages of development of our flag. During the excursion, professor Shirkhan Salimov noted that such events play an important role in making young people more familiar with our national history and culture and strengthening their sense of patriotism. He emphasized that organizing an excursion to the Flag Museum on the eve of the National Flag Day is very important in terms of strengthening students' commitment to national values. The students who participated in the excursion enjoyed watching live the information presented by the museum and learning about the historical path of the Azerbaijani flag. Through the information provided by the museum, the students got more detailed information about the nature and value of state attributes. The faculty of History and geography of Sumgayit State University plans to hold such excursions and events in the future in order to strengthen students' commitment to national and moral values. Excursions like this are priceless in terms of increasing students' knowledge of history and culture and passing of national values to future generations.
