On November 7, Sumgayit State University (SSU) organized the "Flag Peak of the Victory March" event, dedicated to November 8- Victory and November 9- State Flag days, organized by the faculty of History and eography. After a minute of silence, the National Anthem was played in memory of the people who died for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The dean of the faculty, professor Adil Bakhshaliyev, who delivered the opening speech, congratulated the participants, the faculty and students of the university in general, on the holidays, which turned into a significant event in the fate of our nation. The Republic of Azerbaijan faced the territorial claims of the Republic of Armenia from the first days of the Soviet era, the historian reminded that these claims became relevant in November 1987 after national leader Heydar Aliyev resigned from the position of First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers. Then, he added that the political claims raised by the Armenian separatism on February 12, 1988, which started against the background of economic difficulties, turned to the level of an undeclared war at the end of 1991. It was recalled that after Heydar Aliyev came to political power in 1993, along with all fields, army building was especially developed, and in the fall of 2003, it was raised to a new level by President Ilham Aliyev. Adil Bakhshaliyev, who noted that the history of marking the Victory Day began in these years, emphasized the eternity of the victory won in the framework of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020. Amirkhan Isayev, associate professor of the Department of History of Azerbaijan and Eastern European Nations, Yusifali Hasanov, associate professor of the Department of History, Geography and Methodology, delivered a report on "Historical lessons of the Second Karabakh War". The presentations talked about the road to the 44-day war, the historical aspects that made the Patriotic War a reality, and the role of the visionary state policy, the author of that policy, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev. Students of the faculty, Aydın Gasimov, Naila Mikayilova, Aslan Askerov and others, spoke about the role played by Victory Day in the fate of our nation.
