Commemorative events were held dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy in all faculties of Sumgayit State University, organized by the Student Trade Union Committee, and in the Student House by the Center of Excellence At the events, the memory of the victims of the January 20 tragedy was first commemorated with a minute of silence and a video clip reflecting the tragedy was shown. The speakers spoke about the bloody events that occurred 35 years ago and the people's struggle for national freedom and territorial integrity. They noted that only after Heydar Aliyev returned to power was the moment that the January 20 tragedy given a political and legal assessment and the memory of the martyrs immortalized, noting that the dear memory of the martyrs will always live in the memory of our people.
