On April,12 on the initiative of the Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan meeting was held at Sumgait State University within the framework of petition project “Establishment of justice and for the sake of preventing major disaster” in order to expose the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan in the international community.
Opening the meeting, rector of our University Elkhan Huseynov said that violating all the international norms  Armenian armed forces illegally occupied Azerbaijani territories for more than 20 years. More than 1 million Azerbaijanis became refugees and driven out of their lands, the entire infrastructure and cultural monuments in the occupied territories were destroyed, more than 20 thousand Azerbaijani citizens were killed and were taken as hostage. The UN, OSCE, Council of  Europe, European Union ,Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other leading international organizations and world states confirmed the occupation fact and numerous decisions and resolutions were adopted, statements were made that require putting an end to it and return of refugees. However, when President IlhamAliyev was in “Nuclear Summit” held in the USA on April 1-2, positions of Azerbaijan Armed Forces in our occupied territories were intensely  fired by Armenian troops in contact line. The successful prevention of Armenian provocation is the result of  namely the existence of professional military personnel of independent Azerbaijan, strong material and technical base, modern equipment and weapons, as well as a regular army. If to tell more exactly, it is the victory of Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the front. Our Army achieved great success, their strength and courage was presented once again.
Our victory was recognized globally. The whole world once again believed that Nagorno- Karabakh and the surrounding regions belong to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan showed its capability to defend itself in any matter. Mr. President, the Supreme Commander always notes that  we have strong and modern army. We are always proud of our Armed Forces. Recent events at the front showed that Azerbaijani sons are ready to the order of the Supreme Commander. Rector  ElkhanHuseynov also noted that meeting and rallies were held with a patriotic spirit at the University  related with the recent events. I believe that it is just the beginning. We will achieve even great success in the very near future. Azerbaijani people have been actively involved in this petition and will raise their voices in the world.
Maharram Zulfugarli, the representative of  the ACSDA talked about their 12-year activity and mentioned that the main line of their activity is Karabakh reality, aggressive policy of Armenia, genocide and atrocities committed against our people and to present these matters to the world community.He mentioned the statements of  the OSCE, UN, NATO and other international organizations, as well as statements of 40 countries. He added that the main objective of all these statements is the solution of Nagorno- Karabakh conflict not by military, but by peaceful means. He noted that information war is going on at present, and we must win this war.
The representative of the ACSDA talked about petition to the White House Administration, in order to expose biased attitude, detractors, attacks of international organizations, and spread it  all over the world.It was shown in the appeal that matters highlighted in the statement  2085 (2016) of  the Parliament Assembly of  the Council of Europe (Occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and other territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia; the fact of environmental violation being ecological crisis committed by Armenia against Azerbaijan; immediate withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the region; current situation of Sarsang water reservoir could result in a humanitarian catastrophe that is located in occupied territories of Azerbaijan) failed to reach any result. He noted that the ACSDA has begun world-wide publicity campaign to raise awareness of all Azerbaijanis, as well as all Turkic world about the petition.
Maharram Zulfugarli mentioned the importance of the petition through which a resolution had been voted  by46 countries of the Council of Europe, informed the world   on the website of the White House. Everyone was urged to participate in the project.  Then a video was shown on the petition. RufatMuradov, the representative of the ACSDA gave detailed information about the voting procedures.
