An international scientific conference on "sustainable development of the economy: problems and prospects" was held in Sumgait State University, on April 27. The conference was dedicated to the 93rd anniversary  of the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s  birth.
The international conference was held by the initiative of the Ministry of Education and joint organization of Sumgayit State University and Azerbaijan State Economic University.Scientists of leading universities of Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey and other countries, as well as, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of “Azerkimya” Production  Association,  MP Mukhtar Babayev  participiated in the scientific international conference.
For the first,the rector of the university, Professor Elkhan Huseynov  welcomed the guests, expressed his satisfaction to see the guests at the university. Then he  gave information about  the history of the high school and its activities, the international programs and  projects carried out by the university.
Opening the plenary session of the conference, rector Elkhan Huseynov said that our university has been co-chair of  Azerbaijan - Russian  Universities Association since 2015.“Today an agreement on mutual cooperation between Sumgayit  State University and Azerbaijan State Economic University was signed and  I believe that our cooperation will contribute to national studies.
The Rector also noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev  always paid special attention to  economy during his power and successful policy led by his direct supervision and control is giving its positive result today. Heydar Aliyev is not only a scientific, social, political leader, but also played a crucial role in the development of Azerbaijan"s economy.
As mentioned by Heydar Aliyev, with the signing  "Contract of the Century"  he opened the doors of the Caspian Sea and its energy resources  to the world and future historians will write about the importance of this event for the country. 
Speaking  about the significance of the conference the Rector of Azerbaijan State Economic University, Professor Adalat Muradovnoted that Heydar Aliyev"s return to power  began a new economic growth, foreign investments were  made in Azerbaijan"s economy, the national leader  created new opportunities for carrying out radical changes. At this stage, the future of an independent and strong economic policy was formed in the first place.
Professor Adalat Muradov emphasized that not only oil, gas, but also education, human capital  plays a vital role in the development of  state.
The chairman of the Supervisory Board of  "Azerkimya" Production Association MP Mukhtar Babayev said that the positive results of reforms in all sectors of the economy once again proves the correctness of the economic policy led by the national leader.
The professor of  Dokuz Eylul University of  Turkey, Recep Kok,the professor of Russia State Administration University Sergei Garnic, the professor of  Moscow State Humanitarian EconomicUniversity LeylaAllahverdiyeva  and others  reported on various topics. They analyzed the economic situation of the country and other countries were present, which is why the sustainable development of the economy and suggestions. The five sectors, including scientists from foreign countries received more than 300 reports, papers were presented during the conference will be published. In the end an agreement on mutual cooperation was signed betweenSumgait State University and Azerbaijan State Economic University.
