“The number of pupils, taking part of the contest “Scholars of tomorrow” is increasing year by year”, said Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov
Central Scientific Library of ANAS hosted an opening ceremony of 6th Republic Contest “Scholars of Tomorrow” on February 16. The contest was arranged by the mutual efforts of the institutions as follows: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, ANAS, Haydar Aliyev Center, Knoledge Fund under the President of Azerbaijan Republic, Independent Trade Union of Azerbaijan Education Employees (ITUAEE) ) and “Intel” company. Generally, the pupils of 9 -11th classes of comprehensive schools have taken part of this contest. The key goal of the contest was to give an opportunity to the pupils to demonstrate their scientific abilities and to do the research activities. Meanwhile, it was a chance to identify the distinguished candidates for the participation of International Scientific and Engineering Fair “Intel ISEF”, regularly held in USA.
Making an opening speech in the ceremony, Mr. M. Jabbarov, the minister of Education pointed out that the great national leader Haydar Aliyev has always paid a great attention on education and nowadays, his ideas accordingly are realized successfully by his worthy successor Mr. Ilham Aliyev. He noted that the science and education plays a significant role in the modern life so that our country makes a series of reforms in this direction which will bring about the modern mind formation of the youth and attraction of them into the scientific activity. The speaker notified that 38 graduators out of 158, who finished the comprehensive schools with the gold and silver medals last year, are the winners or participants of this contest for the last four years. At present, they study at the famous universities of the Azerbaijan and foreign countries. The minister said that the contest keeps attracting a big interest and the number of the participants of that fair is increasing year by year.
The president of ANAS, academician Mr. Akif Alizade made a speech as well. He widely spoke about the great care and support of the president of Azerbaijan Republic to this field. The speaker noted that the contest is a great opportunity for our country in order to develop the field of science. So, thereby he pointed out the significance of the contest and called on pupils to gain high achievements in that way.
Besides, the head of ITUAEE and parliamentarian of National Assembly Mr. S. Mekhtiyev, executive director of Knowledge Fund Mr. O. Samadov and deputy minister of Sports and Youth Mr. I. Babayev widely shared about their recommendations and wished good luck to all participants.
The rector of SSU, Mr. E. Huseynov has also taken part of this ceremony as well as the other representatives of the different administration bodies and education employees of the country. He made a speech in order to support the pupils of Sumgait. The speaker said: “the strategy in this field determined by the great leader Haydar Aliyev and successfully realized by his worthy successor makes a great opportunity to develop this field. Due to Mr. I. Aliyev: “We should transform our material values and economic potentiality” into the human capital”. Indeed, the knowledge and talent determines the future life of the humans and serves for the complex growth of the country. Growing up of the youth with a high scientific knowledge is one of the tasks of our modern life. The intellectual contests like this one is great of importance in terms of attraction of the youth to the scientific activity, study of foreign languages and share of the experiences of new technologies. Our university has been conducting the seminars regularly about Intel ISEF and “Development methods of inventiveness ability” under the leadership of an assoc. professor Mr. S. Orujov (department of Physics and Electroenergetics). It should be noted that the 42 pupils of our city took part of the 4th Republic Contest “Scholars of Tomorrow” with their scientific works, designed together with the academic staff of our university. It is encouraging that Mr. Orujov has been elected the leader of the Scientific Expertise Committee of the contest “Scholars of Tomorrow” and he will lead that body starting from this year”. In the end of the speech the rector of our university expressed his deep thanks to the organizing body of the contest, wished a good luck to all participants and said accordingly: “I believe that the winners of the contest will make the contributions to our science in the future”
Mr. S. Orujov, the leader of Expertise Committee made a speech and widely spoke about the works done in this field under the leadership of the president Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Thereby he notified that the pupils of 13 cities and regions of our country took part of this contest with their 125 scientific works. 77 of them are the group, and 48 of them are the individual works. The winners of the contest consisting of 8 stages have been determined by the judges.
Afterwards, the winners of the contest, represented Sumgait city have been awarded with the medals as follows:
Fidan Hasanova – silver medal (Istedad lyceum), Rahim Abbasov – silver medal (TTE liceum), Aydan Tanriverdiyeva – bronze medal (Istedad Liceum), Chimnaz Ismayilova – bronze medal (Istedan Liceum). The following pupils have been awarded with the specila awards of the US associations and funds which are: Ramila Muradova – “Vitro biology society” (TET Gymnasium), Rajab Osmanli – “Alfa Beta Math Society” (Tefekkur Lyceum), Shabnam Jumaaliyeva – “Alfa Beta Math Society” (secondary school #9), Shrivanio Orujov “ASM material study science fund (secondary school # 11) and Fidan Hasanova – “America Meteorology Society” (Istedad Lyceum). At the end the rector wished a good luck to the pupils in the scientific activity.
In the end, the winners have been awarded with the diplomas, gifts, medals, cash prizes and etc.
