On May 5, an open door day was held in Sumgayit State University. Upper-class students of Khirdalan city secondary school №1 visited chemistry and biology faculty of the university. Dean of the faculty docent Mahal Muradov received the students and appreciated the meeting which is considered to contribute to right profession and specialty choice of students. He noted that education is vital for a human life and knowledge is a basis for development. “Only education is exceptional in formation of intellectual potential and transformation of material resources into human capital. Nowadays, the main factor that contributes to the development of every country is not its natural resources, but thier trasformation into human capital. Development of the country and education is successfully guided by President Ilham Aliyev. Today, Sumgayit State University is cooperating with several foreign educational institutions; projects are implemented for giving double diplomas, teacher-student exchange, conduct of joint scientific researches. It stimulates the development of relations. For this purpose, our mutual relations is developing with Institute of Polymer Materials of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and a base department of “Technology of polymer materials” of our university has been established at IPM. Thus, our students studying in specialties of chemistry and cehmical engineering intern in those enterprises.” Giving information about students’ success Mahal Muradov noted that every year a group of chemistry and biology faculty students intern in “Petkim Petrokimya Holding” which is  located in Izmit city, Turkey and it is one of the prestigious enterprises in the world. “Also, our students actively attend the conferences organized in Pskov State University of Russia and Ufa State Petroleum Technological University.”
In the end, students visited all buildings of the university. They were in Heydar Aliyev Center, faculties, auditoria, laboratories, TEMPUS room, library and teaching cabinets, computer and information center, Linguistic Center and sport hall. Also, they saw football stadium, volleyball and basketball courts and other game boards.
Pupils questions were answered at the end of the meeting. Broad information and brochures were introduced to them. A methodist and chemistry teacher of Khirdalan city secondary school №1 Tunzala Huseynova thanked to the university administration for the meeting and introduced diploma of thanks to dean Mahal Muradov on behalf of teachers and students of the school she represented. Pupils left the university with positive impressions. Students' acquaintance with the university will continue.
