On May 8, award ceremony of subject Olympiad on Mathematics under the motto “Today’s pupil is tomorrow’s scientist” was held among IV-XI grade students of Sumgayit city which was dedicated to 95th anniversary of Great leader Heydar Aliyev and was organized by Sumgayit State University and Education Department of Sumgayit city.
Rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov accepted the winners in Heydar Aliyev Centre of the University. He noted that holding the meeting in the Center named after Heydar Aliyev is not a coincidence. Implementation of education reforms and strengthening cadre and intellectual potential in the country are associated with his name. National education policy inherited by National leader is successfully carried on by President Ilham Aliyev and first vice president of Azerbaijan, chairwoman of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva. 
Rector emphasized that the purpose of holding the Olympiad is to open up capable pupils and to advance their potential. Since it is impossible to imagine the science without education. Therefore, subject Olympiads are held at our University in every academic year. This kind of Olympiads which were held in objective and fair conditions increases the pupil’s interest to proper subjects. Rector appreciated professional teachers of educational institutions, especially the representatives of Education Department of Sumgayit city for gaining all these achievements; wished them success in preparation of skillful pupils. 
The winners were awarded at the end of the Olympiad. It should be noted that 600 schoolchildren from 37 secondary schools of Sumgayit participated in the event.
